This Sunday

We invite you to follow along this Sunday

WORSHIP PARTS FOR PATTY (July 7 2019)

INVOCATION

Lord God,

Maker of heaven and earth,

we gather together in Your name.

We come as living sacrifices,

to offer You our worship and thanksgiving,

our praise and our prayers.

Come among us, living Lord.

Through the power of Your Holy Spirit,

transform our hearts and minds

so that we may recognize Your presence,

hear Your voice,

know Your will,

and walk in Your way.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ,

our Lord and Savior, who invites us to pray:

WE WILL ALL SING THE LORD’S PRAYER

SCRIPTURE: Romans 12:1-3

Listen now to God’s Word as found in the 12th chapter of Paul’s letter to the Romans.  Paul writes:

Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

This is God’s Word for us today.

INVITATION TO OFFERING AND PRAYER

In “The Message,” Eugene Peterson paraphrases the first verse of our reading this way.  He says:

“So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you:

Take your everyday, ordinary life—

your sleeping, eating, going-to-work,

and walking-around life—

and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you

is the best thing you can do for him.”

In that Spirit, let us take our tithes and offerings

and place them before God

as expressions of our love and devotion

and as sacrifices for the work God is doing.

Let us pray:

Almighty God,

giver of every good and perfect gift,

teach us to render to you all that we have and all that we are,

that we may praise you,

not with our lips only,

but with our whole lives,

turning the duties,

the sorrows,

and the joys of all our days

into a living sacrifice to you,

through our Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen.
